Task 7-Looking back at the Preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?

Looking back at the prelim task there is a clear difference in quality, this is where are various skills have developed and have been applied to our thriller sequence.

The sophistication of the planning and preparation from prelim to main task was completely different. Our prelim task was very basic we had a set storyboard which we slightly altered to make it a more differentiated piece. In comparison to the main task which took weeks of planning it was very easy. With our main task we had discussions over which idea was the best and a realistic possiblility. Was also did many storyboards to perfect are shots and script. We also did many props lists, cast lists and coustume lists. And this is why our main task was so far progressed from the prelim.

When we created the storyboard for our main task we spent much longer deciding on more varied and complicated shots than our prelim task. With our prelim task we had only just grasped how to use the camera and wern’t thinking about shots other than, Close up, Medium shot and a long shot. However with our main task we used a lot more shots. We used a handheld camera which we didn’t in the prelim to create the sens e of the chase scene. We also used pans and high angles and low angles which shows our film making development.

Within our prelim task we focused much more on the dialog and action of the sequence. Where as with our main task we were careful with the mise en scene of every frame. We checked what would be in every background of every scene this is why the work produced will be much more developed. In our prelim task we wern’t careful enough and broke the 180 degree rule, this is why in our main task we were very careful not to brake this rule.

In our prelim task there was no non diegetic sound as the whole sequence was full of dialogue. However with our main task as there was little diaglogue therefore we had to tell the viewer the mood and what is happening within the scene. This would be done by using non diegetic sound in the piece therefore we had to be very careful with our choices.

When we were editing our prelim task it was very basic just cutting them to shape and putting them together . However with our main task we were much more creative for example we put in the credits using title cards from after effects.
Overall i feel that from the prelim task i have progressed a lot being much more capable of filming and developing and also using after effects.
From these screen shots you can see the progression made from prelim to the main task.
