Task 3-What institutions would make our film?

I believe Vertigo would choose to make my film. This is because Vertigo make a lot of other fairly low budget crime/thrillers for example, 1 day, The Business, The Football Factory and Bronson. These films are all very similar to the one that we made this is why our film would fit in with the ethos of the institution. They also use first time directors or relatively unknown directors this is another reason why they would produce our film. For marketing it they would have an advantage already as their audience for their previous films would be similar or the same as the target audience for our film. However the film would start in specific cinema’s as it wouldn’t be big enough to make a mainstream cinema. If it didn’t make that then it would go straight onto DVD, at a similar time it would go onto Blu Ray. After that the film would go onto pay per view, finally the rights would be sold to t.v rights. If the film proved popular then in the future there could be a re release maybe for a bigger audience at a mainstream cinema for increased profits. Vertigo mainly specialise in crime/thriller films most of them have a fairly low budget however there are some exceptions such as ‘the Business’ which had a budget of £2,000,000 with quite big actors like Danny Dyer and Tamer Hassan. However this is an exception with most of the rest having small time actors and low budgets. They definitely target a particular audience with films such as ‘Football Factory’ ‘The Firm’ being violent and football related it’s definitely target at a male audience. My film whilst not being as violent or football orientated it would still be popular with the male audience but also a more varied audience as well.
